Philadelphia Judge Scott DiClaudio is facing a misconduct complaint after being accused of trying to influence a case involving Dwayne Jones, a close associate of rapper Meek Mill.
According to the complaint filed by the Pennsylvania Judicial Conduct Board, DiClaudio allegedly approached another judge, Zachary Shaffer, about Jones’ case. Reports state that DiClaudio handed Shaffer a note with Jones’ name and courtroom information, before suggesting he “might do the right thing anyway.” The note was later torn up.
Shortly after the encounter, Judge Shaffer reported the incident to court administrators. At the time, Jones was awaiting sentencing for a deadly shooting.
The Court of Judicial Discipline will now decide whether Judge DiClaudio violated judicial conduct rules and what disciplinary actions, if any, will follow.
