Meek Mill has seemingly responded to DJ Drama‘s claim that Lil Uzi Vert has “replaced” him as Philadelphia’s anthem artist.
In an interview earlier this week, the Gangsta Grillz DJ said Uzi’s “Just Wanna Rock” has dethroned Meek’s “Dreams and Nightmares” as the unofficial song of the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of their Super Bowl LVII showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs on February 12.
“I think it’s fair to say that ‘Just Wanna Rock’ has replaced — with all due respect — ‘Dreams and Nightmares’ as the new anthem of Philadelphia, as the new anthem of the Philadelphia Eagles this year,” he said. “I’m looking forward to hearing that song many, many times [throughout] Super Bowl weekend.”
Lil Uzi Vert walked out the Eagles during their NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers last weekend, with “Just Wanna Rock” blasting through Lincoln Financial Field. The team cruised to a 37-1 victory, securing their fourth Super Bowl berth in franchise history.
Following Drama’s comments, Meek Mill took to Twitter on Thursday (February 2) to remind people about the enduring impact of his Dreams and Nightmares intro across the world.
“Intro been lighting the world for 10 years!” he wrote. “Like shaking rooms for years!”

The Philadelphia Eagles used Meek’s “Dreams and Nightmares” as their anthem for their Super Bowl LII championship run in 2018, with NBC Sports Philadelphia calling it “the greatest Philly sports anthem ever.”
Released in 2012, “Dreams and Nightmares” is one of Meek’s most defining songs and remains a fan favorite thanks to its climax-building energy.
But with Lil Uzi Vert signed to DJ Drama’s Generation Now label, it’s no surprise the mixtape kingpin is backing his own artist.
“Just Wanna Rock” is currently No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking its highest position since its October 2022 release. Produced by MCVertt and Synthetic, the two-minute song boasts over 191 million Spotify streams, with its music video racking up 50 million views on YouTube.
As it stands, “Just Wanna Rock” is Uzi’s third highest-charting song as a lead artist following “Futsal Shuffle 2020” (No. 5) and “XO Tour Llif3” (No. 7).
Outside of his reaction to Drama’s declaration, Meek Mill also released a new song called “Don’t Follow the Heathens Freestyle” on Thursday night — watch the in-studio video below.
