YBN Nahmir has denied that there are any issues between himself and Cordae, despite public opinion.
In part of an exclusive interview with HipHopDX, the Young Boss N-gga co-founder spoke about a variety of topics, including his relationship with his former YBN group member Cordae and their level of communication.
“Cordae just called my mom yesterday,” YBN Mahmir said. “He told my mom to send the address to him. So he gone do one of the pop ups. Cordae be busy. I’ma be like, ‘What the fuck is you doing here Cordae?’ type shit. I already know how he is.
“But yeah, everybody on a good stretch. Everybody got a good plan for themselves. And everybody on the same path of winning. We talked like two weeks ago. I talk to Cordae a lot. Well, not like a lot but when it’s time to talk to Cordae.”
YBN Nahmir also talked about Almighty Jay and how they were able to overcome their differences from a few years ago. He also talked about a recent surprise performance they did out in Las Vegas.
“Jay, he always been in contact with the people around me,” he began. “It was never like, nothing too serious with him. When we was doing all that Instagram beefing and shit, it embarrassed me because I never been the type to hop on the internet and embarrass myself and it embarrassed me. If you know, you know.”
He continued: “But that’s always been my brother. He older than me so that’s damn near my big brother, but we equal with this shit. But I don’t know. It came out of nowhere. I just had this feeling like, I need to change my life and get everything off my shoulders that’s feeling wrong.
“We went to Vegas and turnt the show up and you see we back to normal now. That’s a good feeling because that’s my brother. A lot of people gone look at it on the internet and be like, ‘He’s a bitch, he just dropped his old beef and all this type of shit. Whole time this is my brother. A lot of people think it was gon’ go farther than what it went.”
“Me and [Almighty] Jay, we was distant for awhile. We didn’t talk for awhile because it was so much shit in the background and it was a lot of shit. But to hop on stage with him and feel good again, that was the best feeling ever. Like I haven’t felt like that in a long time. We hadn’t [hopped on stage] in like three years. But I love bro. I know he love me too.”
The YBN collective started off with just Nahmir and Almighty while playing XBOX Live back in 2014. Cordae then joined in 2018. After dropping their sole project YBN: The Mixtapein 2018, the group would disband permanently just a few years later. Cordae dropped the YBN group name from his solo artist name first, followed by Almighty Jay in 2021. Both YBN Nahmir and Almighty Jay had a series of public disputes with both men wanting to fight each other in 2021.
“He already know I’m gonna beat his ass,” Jay said at the time on Instagram. “I might as well get paid to beat his ass and I want to do it in front of everybody. I’m the one trying to make the fight happen, how am I nervous? You don’t know how bad I want it to happen. You thin as hell, you know I’ma punch a hole through your ass.”
Nahmir replied: “I been tryna beat your ass, just like I beat your mans and them up. When y’all see cuz hurt with all them black eyes, n-ggas ain’t hit cuz with bottles this time. Tell n-ggas to drop a location in Houston we gon’ pop out.”
YBN Nahmir concluded his interview with HipHopDX by discussing his goals for 2023, saying that he wants “two more mansions” and he also wants to move his entire family from Connecticut to California.
