Wiz Khalifa Teases New Music With Anderson .Paak

Philly hitmaker Wiz Khalifa is back on a roll as of late. Aside from the rerelease 2008’s Star Power—now on streaming platforms—the 35-year-old is steady in the studio as he prepares to drop new projects. Fans have already received his long-awaited “#NeverDrinkingAgain” single, as well as a surprise track entitled “Mercury Retrograde.” Now it appears he has yet another song in the works, this time with a feature from Breezy Lovejoy, a.k.a. Anderson .Paak. This may be a result of their recent meeting at Warner Music’s Grammy party, held about one month ago.

The marijuana advocate took to Twitter to announce the music news yesterday evening (March 1). “We gotta banger on the way,” Wiz tweets with a photo as he stands next to .Paak in his smoky studio. The two reportedly had an early morning session, which fans will get to hear hopefully sooner than later. Anderson .Paak shared an image of the two alongside the track’s producer, Fred Wreck, in his Instagram Story. Their beatmaker alluded to the track on his own page, writing “Bending Frequencies with these two giants” in his caption.

The year also sees new collaborations from Wiz and rap legend Snoop Dogg. 2023’s “Cheech & Chong” unloaded “Don’t Text Don’t Call” this week, produced by fellow artist Ty Dolla $ign. The duo are also currently filming the sequel to 2012’s smoker’s classic, Mac & Devin Go To High School. Snoop alluded to the cult film’s revisit on Instagram, which is fittingly titled High School Reunion. The movie is rumored to release this summer, to the joy of their stoner supporters.

Anderson .Paak, on the other hand, is still reveling in the success of his tracks with rapper Cordae. J. Cole got behind the production of their “Two Tens” single, following behind 2022’s politic-driven track “RNP.” The three rap artists apparently have enough music to make an EP, according to Cordae. In an interview with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, the soon-to-be father says they “got a mixtape full of joints” in the stash. “Well, we got an EP full of joints with me, .Paak, and Cole beats,” Cordae later expounds.
