Wiz Khalifa honored DMX, Pop Smoke, and other famous rappers who have passed away during a recent performance.
The Pittsburgh rapper put on an exciting show for his fans at the Sauce Boyz Fest in Puerto Rico. However, what really stirred up the crowd was Wiz’s tribute to some of rap’s fallen heroes.
A screen he had on stage showed various artists, such as Pop Smoke and DMX, while his chart-topping hit “See You Again” played in the background. Other artists in the tribute included King Von, Nipsey Hussle, Young Dolph and more.
In other news, Wiz Khalifa has reportedly been working on some heat with popular producer Lex Luger. However, there’s a reason why it has yet to see the light of day.
Last week, the official Twitter account for Wiz’s Taylor Gang imprint shared a video clip from The Off Wrld Podcast where they talked about the unreleased song.
“At Something In The Water, Lex Luger played some unreleased shit he had with Wiz and Wiz need to drop that,” the co-host said as they previewed the moment from Pharrell‘s festival. “I know it’s old just by hearing it because Wiz doesn’t even rap like that anymore. But like, this shit is crazy.”
With a retweet, Wiz explained how Young Thug‘s incarceration impacted the song’s release.
“This was supposed to be on multiverse,” he said referring to his 2022 release. “i was waiting for a verse from Thug but his legal stuff happened so it stayed unreleased.”
The rapper is also gearing up for a collaboration with another famous Khalifa for a Khalifa Kush collaboration.
Back in April, the “Black and Yellow” rapper took to Twitter to post a photo of himself with retired adult film star Mia Khalifa. There, he announced that the pair would be collaborating — though their collaboration wasn’t musical in nature.
