Former UNC quarterback Drake Maye and his girlfriend have been dating since middle school
Quarterback Drake Maye met his girlfriend, Ann Michael Hudson, before he was a football star.
The 2022 ACC player of the year has had his girlfriend’s support throughout his journey to the 2024 NFL draft, all the way from attending his high school games to cheering him on as the starting quarterback for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.
Hudson knows a lot about the sport that her boyfriend loves — she was born on Aug. 11, 2003, to former Wofford College football player Kevin Hudson and his wife, Alicia Hudson. After attending the same high school for at least a year, Maye and Hudson both chose to attend UNC. She is a business school student with a double minor in entrepreneurship and conflict management at UNC, per her LinkedIn.
The pair have known each other for a long time and Maye and his girlfriend’s family have a close connection. This link is due in part to the fact that Hudson’s younger brother, Tad, played the first year of his college career as a quarterback for UNC, backing up Maye before entering the transfer portal in 2024.
So who is Drake Maye’s girlfriend? Here’s everything to know about Ann Michael Hudson and her relationship with the star quarterback.
She attended the University of North Carolina with Maye
Maye may be known as one of the best UNC Tar Heels quarterbacks of all time — including holding the record for the most passing yards in a single season at the school — but Hudson has been building a legacy there as well.
She is a student at the Kenan-Flagler Business School with a double minor in entrepreneurship and conflict management.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she was a strategy consultant intern at Piedmont Pennies and landed a role as a summer scholar at Deloitte in 2024. She also uses her business acumen in her extracurricular life, having served as the vice president of finance for UNC’s Kappa Delta sorority.
Maye made their relationship Instagram official in 2020
Maye and Hudson attended William A. Hough High School together (before he transferred to Myers Park High School) and they went to UNC together as well.
The quarterback made their relationship Instagram official in 2020 with a cuddly New Year’s post. “Bringing in ‘20 with a 10????,” Maye wrote on Jan. 1. He also has a Highlight on the social media platform featuring photos of himself and Hudson.
Her brother Tad was teammates with Maye
Football has been a part of Hudson’s life for a while as her father played football for Wofford College and her younger brother Tad played quarterback for the UNC Tar Heels. Tad ended up being teammates with Maye, serving as one of his backup quarterbacks on the team during the 2023 season.
After playing with Maye, Tad announced he would be leaving UNC to enter the transfer portal and continue his career elsewhere on April 16, 2024.
“I have entered the transfer portal with 4 years of eligibility left. Thank you to UNC for everything. Excited for the journey!” Tad wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
She has supported Maye’s football career
Hudson has been there to support Maye’s football career from high school through college to his declaration for the 2024 NFL draft.
The pair have attended events together, including a spring formal, and she has also reposted Maye’s updates on his games on X.
Maye celebrated an important milestone for Hudson on Instagram
As Maye and Hudson’s relationship has progressed over the years, the couple love to celebrate each other’s milestones. On Aug. 30, 2021, Maye celebrated Hudson’s 18th birthday and the start of her journey as a UNC student sharing two pictures of the pair on Instagram with a celebratory message.
“Happy 18th to my girlfriend & best friend. Enjoy your day and college move in???? I love you❤️,” Maye wrote in the caption.
They are both passionate about sports
Maye is known for having athletics in his blood, following his father Mark Maye’s footsteps — who also played quarterback for the UNC Tar Heels — and having three brothers who all played college sports. Hudson has also had an extensive history with athletics.
In high school, she was the team captain for the varsity softball, field hockey and cheerleading teams. And, in 2022, she was the assistant coach for the 10 and under girls softball team at Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation.
