News anchor of Vision 1 FM and Light TV, Ama Adomah Obidiaba popularly known in the media fraternity as Yopoo has finally outdoored the Upcoming Artiste Association of Ghana (UAAG) at the Tosway Hotel in Accra over the weekend.
Speaking at the launch, president and founder of UAAG, Yopoo disclosed that such an association has become necessary because alot of new talents are struggling with cost of production and promoting their creative works and urgently need some pushing hands.
“There are many youths in our society today who are very talented and need just a little push to make it to the top. We can’t sit and watch all these talents remain in the dark or have some of them engage in bad activities that will affect the society” she stated.
She added that UAAG is here to take some of this burdens off the shoulders of these talents and help push them to the top by way of recordings, promotions and video shooting.
She said the association will give free recording opportunity to its members, support them to promote their songs and pay 30% off their video shooting budgets.
“I am aware of the challenges involved but the team is very determined to bring solutions to every challenge that will come our way. UAAG is here to stay and I urge individuals and corporate bodies with interest in our music industry to join forces with us in helping these talents achieve their dreams or help shape their careers” she added.
According to her, UAAG currently have over 120 registered members who only pays Ghc20 monthly dues and their doors are still open for new members.
The launch was attended by over hundreds of upcoming musicians, a member from Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and chaired by Prophet kwabena Baiden, host of Drive Time show on Vision 1 FM.
In the chairman’s remarks at the launch, he stated that it has become necessary to give some support and equal opportunity given to some established musicians in some organisations and associations to those that are now climbing the music ladder.
He further stated that, there are more buried talents in our communities because of lack of support and this has lead some of these youthful talents into different social vices in our society and with such an association, alot can be done to support these youths.
He also commended the president of UAAG, Yopoo and her executives for their efforts in making people’s dream a reality.
UAAG in the first quater of 2019 will be touring communities in Accra to get talents registered and later do same in some selected regions in the country. You can also pick up a form for only Ghc50 and become a registered member.
