Travis Scott reacts to grand jury decision on Astroworld tragedy

Travis Scott was under the scanner for the tragedy of the Astroworld festival 2021, where a crowd surge killed ten and injured hundreds.

Now, a Texas grand jury after mulling over the charges decided not to indict the rapper as the evidence was insufficient.

“He is ecstatic. It’s a huge weight that has been removed from his shoulders. He’s looking forward to getting back home after being cleared by the grand jury,” Scott’s attorney Kevin Schaffer told CNN as the rapper is on a concert tour outside the country.

The grand jury decision was preceded by the Houston Police Department’s investigation of 19-month long into the matter.

Speaking to Reuters, the Sicko Mode rapper’s lawyer Schaffer defended his client, saying, “Nothing Travis did or failed to do fits within the Texas criminal code.”

Meanwhile, the unfortunate incident happened on Nov. 5, 2021, when over 50,000 fans huddled at Scott’s Astroworld Festival in Houston.

As soon as the Houston rapper hit the stage, swarms of concertgoers attempted to rush to the stage causing a crowd crush leading many to get trampled and lose consciousness.

The songwriter took to Twitter in the wake of the incident, saying his “prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival.”

“Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life,” adding, “I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support the families in need.
