Travis Kelce Reveals Exact Moment Taylor Swift ‘Won Me Over’
The Kansas City Chiefs star shared Swift’s simple gesture that stole his heart.
Travis Kelce says he still remembers how his girlfriend Taylor Swift “won me over.”
The Kansas City Chiefs star and pop star were weeks away from hard-launching their relationship when Swift attended his game against the Chicago Bears in September.
“The first game she came to, against the Bears, I was like, ‘I can probably set you up with everything,’” Kelce recalled on Tuesday’s episode of the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast. “And she just walked right through the front door. There’s no going down, talking to security.”
“She was like, ‘I just want to be around the family and friends and experience this with everybody,’” he added. “She got beaucoup points for that. I was like, ‘Damn, she’s in the madness. She wants to be a part of it. She wants to support me and do things like that.’ I was like — she really won me over with that.”
Her appearance at the game rocketed the celebrity couple into the pop culture zeitgeist. Since then, they appeared together not only on “Saturday Night Live” but also on Swift’s Eras Tour stage Sunday in London — where the singer serenaded 90,000 fans during her sold-out stop.
Swift shared Tuesday that she’s “still cracking up/swooning” over Kelce’s “Eras Tour debut,” and certainly has good reason: The NFL tight end waltzed onstage at Wembley Stadium in a top hat to touch up her makeup and attempt to revive Swift between songs, a role usually played by a regular tour performer.
The 34-year-old was arguably just returning the favor, however, as Swift has attended several Chiefs games in the past 10 months. Kelce confirmed that seeing her be so gracious and eager to meet his family truly made her a team player.
“She’s very self-aware,” he said on the podcast. “I think that’s why I started to really fall for her, is how genuine she is around friends, family. It can get crazy for somebody with that much attention, and she just keeps it so chill and so cool. And that’s [something] I can admire.”
When asked about his three favorite Swift songs, Kelce unflinchingly chose “Blank Space,” “Cruel Summer” and “So High School.” In the arguably most endearing moment of the show, Kelce said the latter has “sentimental meaning” — as it is about him.
