It is with great excitement that we learn today that Tracy Chapman’s debut album will be re-released on vinyl in the summer of 2024!
The information comes from an article published online today in the New York Times Style magazine, which will apparently appear in print on April 21, 2024.
The article states that this Exit will be released “to mark its 35th anniversary”. It’s true that we’ve been looking forward to this release for years, and especially last year, since last year, 2023, was the 35th anniversary of the album’s release.
This year is the 36th anniversary of the album’s release, but what matters is that it’s FINALLY back on vinyl.
We don’t have any more information on that yet. Will all songs be remastered? We strongly suspect so. Some of them (“Fast Car“, “Talkin’Bout A Revolution” and “Baby Can I Hold You”) were remastered for the 2015 Greatest Hits release, so that would be a good opportunity.
Will Tracy and Luke Combs’ already mythical duet on “Fast Car” at the Grammy Awards in February 2024 be added as a bonus track ? No idea. In general, vinyl album reissues can include rarities and exclusive tracks such as previously unreleased versions of some songs, single edits, remixes, alternate takes, live versions…
