Zach Wilson looks set to test free agency after spending last season with the Denver Broncos, and it looks as though the Las Vegas Raiders could be a potential landing spot.
The former first round pick is one of 19 upcoming free agents for the Broncos, which includes both of last season’s backup quarterbacks – Wilson and Jarrett Stidham.
Given last year’s first round pick Bo Nix had a great rookie year, it doesn’t seem either player has much of a chance of claiming the starting job in Denver.
As a result both are expected to look for new homes this offseason, and at least for Wilson, it looks as though he may have a potential suitor already.
The Las Vegas Raiders are keen to improve their quarterback room, and Vincent Bonsignore, who covers the team, recently stated that the franchise is talking about Wilson.
Given Wilson was the third-string quarterback last season, he didn’t record any stats. However, during his three years with the New York Jets, he recorded 6,293 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and 25 interceptions along with a record of 12-21.
Despite being the second overall pick for the Jets, Wilson never settled into life in the Big Apple and was allowed to move on.
Wilson ready to take step forward?
However after learning from the likes of Aaron Rodgers and Sean Payton during his two stops in New York and Denver, there are some who believe Wilson is a more mature player who is ready to be a starting quarterback.
Obviously, there’s a long way to go with the @Raiders QB room, but a name that keeps coming up here in Indianapolis, at least in terms of bringing into the mix, is Zach Wilson.

Given that players like Sam Darnold, Geno Smith and Peyton Manning all got off to slow starts in their career, Wilson still has plenty of time to change the narrative around him given he is just 25.
That’s why the Raiders, who are being led by Tom Brady, could provide the perfect opportunity for Wilson to become a full-time NFL starting quarterback.
It is no secret that the Raiders are looking to change the course of the franchise after a disappointing 4-13 record last season, which is why they many believe the team are hoping to take a quarterback with the sixth overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
However, should Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders come off the board before then, than Wilson to the Raiders might not be such a far fetched idea for the franchise.
