Kylie Kelce may adore her husband, Jason Kelce, but that doesn’t mean she wants him calling her cutesy nicknames.
On Dec. 10, the couple, who are expecting baby No. 4, was on the “Good Mythical Morning” podcast, where Jason Kelce explained that his wife “hates” any kind of lovey-dovey “pet name.”
When one of the show’s hosts asked Jason Kelce if he calls his wife only Kylie, the former Philadelphia Eagles center explained that he’s managed to come up with exactly one term of endearment his wife will allow.
“I call her Joe because when she played field hockey (in college), she reminded me of like a baby kangaroo the way she was like squatted down,” Jason Kelce explained as Kylie Kelce laughed. “So I called her Joey and narrowed it down to Joe.”
“Yeah, that one’s fine,” Kylie Kelce conceded.
When the hosts suggested a few other pet names a couple might call each other — such as Sweetie — Kylie Kelce looked visibly perturbed.
“Oh, Sweetie, he’s not allowed to say … There’s certain nicknames — Sweetie, Babe, Baby, Hon, Honey — you can only be called those things by, like, a waitress in a diner in South Philly,” Kylie Kelce explained, prompting laughter.
“Otherwise, in Philadelphia, it takes on this kind of, ‘OK, Hon,” she said, pretending to be irritated.
“It’s almost like a ‘Bless your heart.’ It’s like sharp,” she added. “It just feels aggressive in a way that is not welcome.”
It seems Jason Kelce isn’t the only Kelce brother who has a special nickname for Kylie Kelce.
In January, Travis Kelce reminded listeners of the brothers’ “New Heights” podcast that he calls his sister-in-law “Princess Kyana,” a riff on the royal title of the late Diana, Princess of Wales.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end came up with the nickname on the Nov. 15, 2023 episode of “New Heights” after his brother mentioned a Philadelphia Eagles jacket his wife signed that was being auctioned off to raise money for charity.
