Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence “Punch” Henderson has reflected on the commercial success of SZA’s SOS album with the project dominating the charts more than a month after its release.
Punch took to Twitter on Thursday (January 19) with a heartfelt tweet thanking everyone involved with making SZA’s long-awaited LP.
“Man. Sitting here thinking about all of the success and conversation surrounding SOS,” he wrote. “It’s truly a surreal moment. Wanted to take time and say thank you to every person who was/is involved in making this thing go! You are truly appreciated!”

SOS is spending a fifth consecutive week atop the Billboard 200 since its December arrival. The project collected 125,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. for the week ending January 12, per Billboard.
The last album to spend its first five weeks at the Billboard 200’s apex was Adele’s 2021 album 30; while Janet Jackson was the last female R&B artist to achieve this feat with the 1993 release of janet.
SZA is also the first woman in R&B to top the chart for five consecutive weeks at any point following an album’s release in the 21st century.
Additionally, S.O.S. is one of only four albums released in 2022 to maintain this long of a run on the Billboard 200, along with Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti, Taylor Swift’s Midnights and the soundtrack to Disney’s Encanto.
SZA and the TDE president didn’t always see eye-to-eye throughout the creative process prior to SOS‘s completion, but the winding road to the finish line proved to be more than worth it for both parties.
Meanwhile, the Grammy-winning singer showed love to Megan Thee Stallion and gave her public support to the rapper following her shooting trial against Tory Lanez.
“Jus wanted to show some love to Meg. Your beautiful and we’re all rooting for you,” SZA wrote with a photo of Meg.
