Swift’s arrival comes after she played four consecutive shows at the Tokyo Dome in Japan for the latest leg in her Eras tour, shortly after the Grammys in Los Angeles exactly a week ago.
She announced on Feb. 4 that she would be releasing her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, this coming April. Swift revealed the news during her acceptance speech for best pop vocal album for Midnights, which marked her 13th Grammy award. (She has a total of 14 wins as of the 2024 ceremony after also picking up album of the year.)
“I’ve been working on Tortured Poets since right after I turned in Midnights,” Swift told her stadium crowd on Wednesday in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter).
She added, “I’ve been working on it for about two years, I kept working on it throughout the U.S. tour and when it was perfect — in my opinion when it’s good enough for you — I finished it and I am so so excited that soon you’ll get to hear it.”
On Jan. 28, the Chiefs earned a 17-10 win against the Baltimore Ravens during the AFC Championship game. After the game, the “Karma” singer joined Kelce, 34, on the field and they shared a celebratory kiss.
Speaking to SiriusXM NFL Radio during Super Bowl’s opening night in Las Vegas in Monday, Kelce raved about Swift’s support for the Chiefs.
“She’s all in,” the NFL star said of Swift. “She’s part of Chiefs Kingdom 100%.”
Kelce elaborated on a previous question about what it’s like managing the extra media attention that comes from dating the 14-time Grammy winner.
“You asked me how it is,” Kelce began. “And to be honest, I’m learning throughout this all.”
The two-time Super Bowl winner (Kelce won with the Chiefs in 2020 and 2023), added, “I’m just kind of on the plane ride, just cruising and trying to figure this thing out on the run,” as he navigates his surging fame while dating Swift.
“She’s unbelievable. She’s re-writing the history books herself,” Kelce said about Swift’s historic fourth Album of the Year win during Sunday’s Grammy Awards. “I told her I’ll have to hold up my end of the bargain and come home with hardware, too,” he added, referring to a potential third Super Bowl win.
The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will face off in Super Bowl LVIII, airing on CBS on Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
