Stop the tours and find lasting solutions to floods – Akufo-Addo told
President Nana Akufo-Addo on Tuesday toured some parts of the Greater Accra Region to inspect ongoing dredging works on the Odaw river, and the construction of a storm drain at Kaneshie 1st Light, in Accra, aimed at reducing the flooding situation in the capital.
Currently, there are some twenty-one (21) dredging and desilting works currently ongoing in the Greater Accra.
Additionally, there are 11 storm drains currently under construction in some selected areas in the capital.
But the Member of Parliament for Lower Manya constituency, Ebenezer Terlabi says the President’s tour will amount to nothing.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Tuesday, he said instead of going on tour, he should sit with various stakeholders to find lasting solutions to the problem.
“There is a lack of coordination as far as development in this country is concerned. We need to sit down and fashion out alternatives . . . Akufo-Addo going on tour will not solve the problem. He needs to sit with all the stakeholders and really analyze the cause of the problem and how to solve it,” he indicated.
