Sonnie Badu wades into Shatta Wale-Stonebwoy indefinite ban
UK based international gospel musician Sonnie Badu has waded into the Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy indefinite ban by Charterhouse.
According to the ‘Baba’ hitmaker, the organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Charterhouse should be partly blamed for the chaos that happened.
Sonnie Badu also added that Charterhouse didn’t put adequate measures in place, in terms of security during the show and that they should also take responsibility for the unfortunate incident that happened at the Accra International Conference Centre.
“For a very long period of time, there have been issues between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale and everybody knows about it. What makes music interesting is when there are healthy rivals but there are certain punchlines that pushes one to a certain level that that person did not want to get into. Stonebwoy’s disability is not by birth so when somebody takes a low blow punch on that it could hit sentiments where you literally remind the person of what happened to him.
Notwithstanding, Shatta Wale is one of the best songwriters I have ever come across. His songs are deep and he has no point to prove to nobody so both of them in their own right are geniuses, amazing and are artistes that add to Ghana music. You cannot talk about Ghana music and leave Stonebwoy & Shatta Wale.
However, the only problem I have in Stonebwoy’s camp was the bodyguard who passed the gun to Stonebwoy where it was his duty to protect him. Charterhouse should take some responsibility and admit that they didn’t put the event right. The security wasn’t tight that was why these men could get on stage”,he stated.
“Next time you are organising an event, check dress codes. Stripping them of their awards was uncalled for because they spend a night in the police cell is enough punishment. What is Ghana Police doing to Charterhouse for attempting to put an event together without adequate security?”, he added.
