Is Selena Gomez slowly distancing herself from pop culture? The former Disney darling has made eyebrow-raising moves as she has unfollowed some some famous people on Instagram, including her rumored ex Zayn Malik.
As of Sunday afternoon, June 25, the 30-year-old singer/actress unfollowed the British artist on the photo-sharing platform. Meanwhile, the former One Direction member is still following the “Wolves” songstress.
Selena has also quietly clicked the unfollow button on the account of Zayn’s ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid. The “Hotel Transylvania” star apparently also doesn’t want to receive any updates from Gigi’s sister Bella Hadid as the 26-year-old model has been scrubbed from her following list.
Making it more confusing, Selena has also unfollowed Zendaya Coleman and Dua Lipa for an unknown reason.
While there’s no explanation for Selena’s head-scratching social media moves, this happens after she and Zayn were hit with dating rumors back in March. At the time, a TikTok user claimed that her friend told her about Selena and Zayn’s date.
“Tell me how Selena Gomez and zayne just walked into [cencored place] hand in hand, making out,” the TikTok user asked her friend, who responded by saying that she “seated” the rumored new couple.
Additionally, an eyewitness told Entertainment Tonight, “Selena and Zayn went out in SoHo in New York City last night at around 10:30 P.M.” The source added, “They walked in holding hands and were kissing. Most restaurant staff and restaurantgoers didn’t notice them. It seemed like they were comfortable together and it was clear that it was a date.”
There was no actual evidence to the dating rumors, while Selena declared in a recent video that she’s “single.” In a TikTok clip shared on June 8, the “Only Murders in the Building” star hilariously shot her shot with a group of soccer players.
“I’m single,” she said while watching a soccer game from the sidelines. “I’m just a little high-maintenance. But I’ll love you soooo much,” she continued shouting while sitting comfortably against a chainlink fence.
