Selena Gomez said “Bye bye!” to the blonde. The actor, singer and Rare Beauty founder just ditched her long lengths and chunky blonde highlights and went back to her dark long bob instead.
I had a strong feeling we might be getting a hair change-up from Gomez during the Golden Globes, as her high updo appeared both darker and shorter than her most recent highlighted, just-past-shoulder-length style. Turns out I was right! On January 10, Gomez attended a Rare Beauty event once again rocking a lob.
Gomez’s hair currently hits at her collarbone and the ribbons of warm, golden blonde are gone, replaced by her usual dark brunette color. Her hair was styled by her go-to hairstylist Marissa Marino in soft, barely-there bends and waves befitting the vibes of Rare Beauty’s new Find Comfort body care collection, which is all about relaxation and calm, chill moments. Gomez wore equally soft, simple makeup for the event, plus a minimal your-nails-but-better manicure, and looked chic and angelic in a white-on-white suit. The longer hair and highlights were a ton of fun, especially in the height of winter, but I get it — when you’re ready for a change, you’re ready for a change ASAP!
Gomez first debuted her lob haircut in October at a different Rare Beauty event, practically blinding us not just with the new hairstyle but its mirror-like shine. At the time, her hair was trimmed to just above her collarbone, so we’re likely seeing the grow-out a few months later. The star often oscillates between long and short hair, including the cute bob with bangs she showed off in early 2022, frequently mixing things up with extensions. Her hair looks great at any length, but I have to be honest — there’s just something about Selena Gomez with a lob that feels so right.
