The pop star hasn’t released a full-length album since 2016’s ‘Anti’
Rihanna is having a style moment while seemingly sending a subtle message!
On Thursday, June 6, the “Lift Me Up” singer, 36, was photographed taking a stroll in New York with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky. The Barbadian entertainer, who has been promising fans new music for quite some time, stepped out in an interesting choice of wardrobe.
“I’m retired,” her blue, short-sleeved T-shirt read in large white text. In smaller red letters, the sentence continued, “This is as dressed up as I get.”
She paired the top with a darker blue maxi skirt and red sneakers. Rihanna accessorized with a lime green purse.
Rocky, 35, wore a tan and brown argyle sweater shirt with light denim jeans.
The couple, who are parents to sons RZA, 2, and Riot, have both discussed Rihanna’s future in music as recently as this year. Her latest album, Anti, was released in 2016.
In February, the “F**kin’ Problems” rapper was seen in a video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) taking photos with fans in the streets of Paris. In between a snap, another individual asked when Rihanna would be dropping her highly anticipated R9 album.
“She’s working on it,” he said with a smile before walking away.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight in mid-April to promote her Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty Earth Tone sneaker, the “Work” singer also gave a bit of an update regarding the project.
The beauty mogul promised her new music would make the wait worthwhile, calling the tracks she’s come up with so far, “so good.”
The conversation began when ET asked Rihanna if she thought her and Rocky’s two sons might follow in their parents’ footsteps and become musicians when they’re older.
“I mean, it’s up to them,” the boy mom said.
She confessed that she had a few tracks stored away that could be really good album choices.
“I already got stuff that I feel like I can make hits out of,” the pop star continued. “Really.”
She added that sometimes it all comes down to if she gets to use the song or if it goes to Rocky.
In the meantime, the “Umbrella” hitmaker is expanding her empire. Earlier this week, Rihanna announced the launch of her new haircare line.
