Case closed.
When Rihanna’s line received a cease and desist letter, she detailed how the product wasn’t even for sale anymore but Freedom United still went ahead with filing their lawsuit. The Blast now reports that Rihanna and the fashion company have privately settled the lawsuit, reaching a deal that will have them cancel the case. There’s no word on what Freedom United was offered or if there was any monetary value.
Settling the lawsuit and having the case closed is a smart move ahead of Rihanna’s new venture with LVMH, becoming the first woman of colour to do.
“Designing a line like this with LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us,” Rihanna said of the launch. “Mr. Arnault has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits. I couldn’t imagine a better partner both creatively and business-wise, and I’m ready for the world to see what we have built together.”
