Discussing the growth of the show, Lil Dicky told Consequence: “I remember Season 1, it’s like, ‘Take my word for it. This is gonna be great. We had rappers who were supposed to be in Season 1 not even show up, you know, and I’m just sitting there on the day like, ‘What’s going on this season?’ To say we’re in the big leagues now would be an understatement as far as the talent we were able to bring.”
Celebrity cameos are commonplace on Dave with the likes of Trippie Redd, YG, Lil Nas X, J Balvin, Doja Cat, Rae Sremmurd, Kourtney Kardashian, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kendall Jenner and Justin Bieber all showing up in previous seasons.
Lil Dicky (real name Dave Burd) stars alongside his hype man GaTa as well as Taylor Misiak, Andrew Santino, Taco (Travis Bennett) and Christine Ko. Season 2 wrapped up in 2021 giving those who were late to the party plenty of time to catch up on the 30-minute episodes.
“People in the industry, especially artists and creatives, I think they can relate to the struggle of the people on the show,” Dicky added of the show’s appeal.
In a recent interview with HipHopDX, Rich Homie Quan gave Dicky his props and compared his creative genius to that of Kanye West.
“Lil Dicky… he doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves,” Quan said. “His mind… he reminds me of a Kanye — and I say that in a good way. Not Kanye Kanye, but perfectionist Kanye, you know what I’m saying?”
