Djamel Belmadi, the Head Coach of the Algerian National Team, has said, the target of his team in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019 in Egypt, is to reach the round 16 of the competition.
The new tactician said, Algeria would not go into the competition to add to the numbers but would fight till the final
The Algerians have been drawn in Group C with Senegal, Kenya and Tanzania.
Speaking ahead the big tournament, the former Olympic Marseille midfielder said, “it would be necessary to fight for the title like all the big African football nations and also enter the competition with necessary confidence and go little by little as far as possible”.
“It is will be more open for all qualified teams especially that all teams will have their say as we have seen during the qualifiers. Nothing would be easy in this competition, because currently there are no more small teams”, he added.
The Algerians would open their account on June 23 as they would play one of the tournament minors Kenya.
