Offset and his legal team scored another victory in a Los Angeles court in May when a lawsuit filed by Platinum Transportation Group over a missing Bentley Bentayga was dismissed, according to Rolling Stone.
PTG sued Offset in February 2021 for failing to return the Bentley he rented in 2020 and slapped him with a judgment for nearly $1 million.
The Migos rapper’s attorneys argued that the suit was filed in the wrong venue and then PTG agreed to dismiss the lawsuit “without prejudice,” which means they can technically try to sue Offset once again in a different judicial forum.
“The case was not settled. We are simply changing venue and will be refiled in the federal northern district court of Georgia,” Platinum’s lawyer, Bryan M. Thomas, relayed in a statement.
The legal docs claim that Offset leased the vehicle for $600 a day in May 2020 and he told the company that he wasn’t the owner of the car and reported it stolen around July 4, 2020, which was weeks before the rental’s expiration.
PTG then filed the lawsuit in 2021 for a reimbursement of $950,027.35. Offset is alleging that it wasn’t him that rented the car and he placed the blame on Oriel Williams, who is the mother to one of his children.
“I did not steal the car, and I reported the car missing to PML as soon as I was advised by Williams that the car could not be located,” Offset added in a statement. “In or about July 2020, I was informed by PML that the car was reported stolen to the Los Angeles Police Department and that they were investigating the theft of the car.
I was never in possession of the car and — to my knowledge — was not listed as an ‘additional driver’ on the rental agreement. I had rented cars from PML in the past, however, and they had both my Georgia driver’s license and credit card on file.”
Offset is a sports car connoisseur and boasts one of the most exotic fleets in all of Hip Hop, which includes multiple Bentleys.
