Lloyd Banks Says He Could Drop An Album Every Year For Next 5 Years

LLoyd Banks is poised to keep his comeback run going. The Queens rapper, who dropped the sequel to his Course of the Inevitable album in July, explained to HipHopDX how not only could he rap at an elite level despite taking time off, but he could also drop a heater every summer if need be.

“Now, I feel like I’m fully capable of dropping an album for the next five years; at least once a year, if not twice,” he said. “I just feel like I’m chasing the ultimate album, you know what I mean? So it’s like, I can’t possibly be finished. I also lost more than a few years from just taking hiatuses in the business.

“In a lot of spots, I’ve might have been expected to have momentum, but I wasn’t in a situation at the time to just drop album after album.”

Banks has endured several personal hardships in recent years. He lost his father, grandmother and best friend during his lengthy hiatus but over the course of time, crafted enough material to where he has five albums in the tuck, ready to go at a moment’s notice. Having time away allowed him to re-chart a course for his career, eliminate criticisms and sharpen his pen even more.

“We in the day and age where you’re trying to find the three or four songs you like on the album, opposed to back in the day [when] we used to look for the two or three songs that we weren’t that fond of,” he says. “I’m not really driven to just make the one hot record. Those always help but at this point, I’m just in the mode of making full bodies of work. Creativity, conceptually, the whole thing.”

Course of the Inevitable 2 arrived a year after the original album and sports guest features from the likes of Conway The Machine, Benny the Butcher, Jadakiss, Dave East and his former G-Unit brother Tony Yayo.
