Lil Yachty is thinking about stopping doing interviews altogether, as he feels his words are being misconstrued every time he does one.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday (March 9), Lil Boat expressed his frustration with the constant misconceptions.
“I think ima all around just stop doing interviews, because the things I say are never understood as intended,” he tweeted.

Earlier this year, Yachty was forced to explain himself after getting a ton of backlash for comments he made about wanting to shake off his “mumble rapper” label.
At a January listening party for his psychedelic rock-infused Let’s Start Here album, Yachty explained the project was made to change the narrative around how he’s viewed in the music community and give him more credibility as an artist.
“This album is so special and dear to me,” he said. “I think I created it just because I really wanted to be taken serious as an artist, you know? Not just some SoundCloud rapper, not some mumble rapper, not some guy that just made one hit.”
He added: “I wanted to be really taken serious because music is, like, everything to me. I respect all walks of music, not just rap and Hip Hop. Everything. So I think I wanted to make something to show the world just how great it was to me.”
Some fans took issue with Yachty’s comments, with one writing on Twitter: “I hate how rappers don’t even respect rap as an artform. Why does ‘I want to be considered an artist’ always follow with them making some shit from another genre.”
Yachty took a moment to reply to the fan in a since-deleted tweet over the weekend, clarifying that he meant no disrespect toward Hip Hop as an artform.
“It’s not about respecting rap, it’s about being respected as more than a rapper,” he wrote. “I create music in more than just that lane.”
Lil Yachty also recently cleared up rumors about his former relationship with Mariah The Scientist. Though the comments didn’t stem from an interview he did, the Atlanta native seemed perturbed about the allegedly false narrative that has apparently been surrounding him.
It began when a fan retweeted a photo of Mariah with her middle fingers in the air, writing, “How you go to school to be an anesthesiologist and ended up flunking out bc of Lil Yachty.”
The comments are aimed at Mariah’s brief stint at St. John’s University in New York, where she was enrolled on a biology scholarship prior to dropping out to pursue a career in music — a decision some fans believed was fueled by her rumored romance with the rapper.
After catching wind of the gossip, Yachty had a few words of his own regarding the alleged relationship.
“Lol why do y’all keep trying me over this woman.. I been [quiet] for so long but plz stop making up this weird ass false narrative,” he fired off in a series of tweets that have since been deleted. “& me and Mariah wasn’t dating at the time……. again!!!! Only time ima say this. Leave me out of it!”
“& the fact Mariah just let all these lies go on is weird to me,” he tweeted. “Y’all really be on d**k about s**t y’all no nothing about…go touch grass.”
Things escalated when a fan accused the “Coffin” rapper of getting a close friend to Mariah pregnant, but Yachty wasn’t having it, claiming the two were never close.
“This is also just not true. Lmao they were never friends…. EVER never met. Rarely ever had a full conversation. [They] just followed each other… U [censored] R WEIRD!!!!!!!!!!!”” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, Mariah The Scientist appeared to confirm the gossip when she chimed in with threats to air out all of his dirty laundry.
“I know a n***a ain’t having sum 2 say bout sum I don’t ever speak on,” she tweeted. “Miles u got to be dizzy I will air u out on this b***h.”
Yachty responded to her Tweet stating: “Def not finna back and forth w u on the internet. I just cleared my name, ur fans r weird.”
