Lil Uzi Vert has revealed why they didn’t look happy when it was time to blow out the candles on their birthday cake this week.
A video of Uzi celebrating their 27th birthday went viral on Sunday (July 31). When asked to blow out sparkler candles and make a wish, the Philly rapper answered, “How? I don’t wish.”
Lil Uzi Vert took to Twitter on Tuesday (August 2) to explain why they acted that way, revealing they were actually excited inside, but scared to show their emotions.
“Everytime I have a bday dinner I reflect on my past and it makes me sad,” they wrote. “I don’t know why it’s just like that hug I never had ….. i be so excited in my head but be scared 2 show it. crazy man ….thank you for loving me for me y’all. hate my bday lollll.”
They added in another tweet: “My girlfriend got me a maybach van and it’s fire she listen 2 all my conversations lollll. I was like damn why you do that she was like because I love you … I was like no you don’t she was like yes I do … I was like no you don’t she was like yes I do Jatavia Johnson a mess.”

However, Lil Uzi Vert did look excited while celebrating their birthday in the club, where they brought a ton of cash and hung out with James Harden and NAV. Their girlfriend, City Girls’ JT, also wished them a happy birthday with an Instagram montage, along with a caption declaring her love for them.
“I love you uzi,” she said. “I’m crying making this post because you are literally a dream come true! I feel like with everything I been through in life you are one of my greatest rewards! I wake up everyday to either your frown or smile …either works for me, as long as you’re right there.”
She continued: “You are my best friend, my twin flame. you work so hard, you deserve the world! I love everything about you… from your main character energy to still being able to make me feel like I’m the only person in the room! I saw you go through so much & in those times you still held me down.”
