Let’s apply a bit of ‘humanity’ and ‘common sense’ – Baako on Radio Gold/XYZ shutdown
AbdulEditor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Malik Kweku Baako Jnr., has urged the National Communications Authority (NCA), to find ways of applying some level of ‘humanity’ and ‘common sense’ in the discharge of their duties.
The NCA on Thursday closed down two Accra-based radio stations known to be affiliated to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking to this issue on JoyFM’s Newsfile programme, he was critical of the NCA’s overbearing conduct in handling the issue; and called for finding “a way of applying some humanity and common sense”.
To him, it is “wrong” for the NCA to indicate that the affected media houses may not get their frequency back or licenses renewed.”
” . . the media; radio is critical for our socio-economic development…” he added.
