Kofi Kinaata addresses social ills in new single ’Things Fall Apart’

The two time Ghana Music Awards Songwriter of the Year, Kofi Kinaata, has released another lyrically rich song titled “Things Fall Apart.”

A song which speaks on the ills in society focuses on religion, politics, corruption and education.

The song which runs on a mid-tempo beat has its chorus questioning the genuineness of current religious practices and the worship of God.

In the song, he also questions the interest of religious bodies and their leadership, on their commitment to the welfare of their followers.

Some lines in the song translate as, “On judgement day when God appears physically he might have to make considerations before getting candidates for heaven. Because pastors are not able to speak the truth. Because of monetisation Christians can’t go to the chapel,” all of which reveals how a lot of things are wrong in our current dispensation.

Kofi Kinaata in his new single featured BBC Africa Eye’s exposé on ‘sex for grades’ in the West African universities.

“Everyone says he is a bad man so the lecturer wants to sleep with you before he gives you a pass mark,” The lyric says.

His style of music has been known to differ from others as his songs seek to move his listeners to question their actions and inactions. Some of his songs are ‘Susuka’ and ‘Sweetie Pie’.
