Kid Cudi Says Diddy Was Like a ‘Marvel Supervillain’ When He Confronted Him Over Porsche Explosion
Kid Cudi testified that Sean “Diddy” Combs looked “like a Marvel supervillain” when he went to meet the music mogul after his car blew up in his driveway. The “Pursuit of Happiness” rapper, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, was called as a prosecution witness at Combs’ federal trial in Manhattan, and took the stand Thursday morning, May 22.
Mescudi testified that while he was seeing Casandra “Cassie” Ventura romantically in 2011, during a lull in her relationship with Combs, his home was broken into, his dog was locked in a bathroom and later a Molotov cocktail was thrown in his blue Porsche as it sat in his driveway.
Mescudi, who had been engaged in heated phone conversations with Combs after the mogul discovered his relationship with Ventura, believed Combs was involved. Mescudi said the relationship with Ventura ended in 2011 out of concern for each of their safety, testifying that he believed Combs to be “violent.”
Later, Mescudi testified he met with Combs at the Soho House in Los Angeles, noting the Bad Boy Records founder was standing “with his hands behind his back like a Marvel supervillain.”
After the meeting — where the pair were eventually joined by Ventura — Mescudi said he asked Combs “What are we going to do about my car?” Combs allegedly replied “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” but Mescudi testified he believed Combs was lying.
Mescudi and Combs encountered each other again at the Soho House a few years later, he said, testifying the mogul said he wanted to “apologize for everything.” Mescudi, a two-time Grammy winner, said he made peace with what had happened.
Combs is on trial facing federal charges that include sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution — crimes that could put him behind bars for life.
At the center of the case are alleged “Freak Offs” — sex parties where women were reportedly coerced to perform with male sex workers.
The allegations made at trial thus far have largely concerned Combs’ relationship with Ventura, who alleged on the stand that she had endured a physically and sexually abusive relationship with the mogul and was forced to participate in Freak Offs.
On May 13, ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura started testifying, where she described emotional manipulation throughout their relationship. Her earlier civil lawsuit, which was quickly settled, triggered a wave of similar accusations against Combs.
Combs has pleaded not guilty and remains held without bail at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
