Klopp steps down as Liverpool boss
Set to return to Anfield next month
Has tickets to see Taylor Swift there
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Klopp era at Liverpool came to a close at the weekend as they beat Wolves 2-0 at Anfield. In emotional scenes on the final day of the Premier League season, the German thanked the players and fans for their support and told those present to get behind his successor, Arne Slot. Many were unsure when the former Borussia Dortmund would return to Anfield, but it turns out he and his wife Ulla will be back in just a matter of weeks to see the singing superstar for her Eras Tour.
WHAT JURGEN KLOPP SAID
During an hour-long Q&A with staff in the Carlsberg Dugout executive lounge in Anfield’s Main Stand, the German said, via The Athletic, that he and his wife had tickets to see singer Swift at Anfield in mid-June. He then started singing her hit record, ‘Shake it Off’.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Klopp will go down as a Liverpool legend and a Premier League icon, too. He helped the Reds win a host of trophies, including the Champions League and Premier League, and filling his shoes his a huge task for the incoming Slot. It remains to be seen if Liverpool can continue to be a force at the top of the game post-Klopp.
WHAT NEXT?
Earlier this week, Liverpool confirmed the appointment of Feyenood boss Slot. The Dutchman has signed a three-year deal and will take over the reins next month. For Klopp, it is not yet known what his next move will be.
