Jon Voight Says Daughter Angelina Jolie ‘Exposed’ To UN ‘Propaganda’

The actor told Variety he gets along with his daughter, though he takes issue with her support of Palestinians and says she’s been “influenced by antisemitic people.”

Oscar-winning actor and outspoken Donald Trump fan Jon Voight insists he’s getting along better with daughter, Angelina Jolie, with one small caveat: The United Nations.

In a new interview with Variety, Voight says he’s now reconciled with Jolie after a long estrangement, but admits he still has issues with her political beliefs ― and in particular, her outspoken opposition to Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza and her support of Palestinians.

“She has been exposed to propaganda,” he said. “She’s been influenced by antisemitic people. Angie has a connection to the U.N., and she’s enjoyed speaking out for refugees. But these people are not refugees.”

Jolie started working with the U.N.’s refugee agency in 2001 and was appointed its special envoy in 2012. She resigned her post in 2022 because she wanted “to work differently” by directly engaging with refugees and local organizations.

When Jolie released a statement last November saying the Israeli invasion of Gaza was “the deliberate bombing of a trapped population who have nowhere to flee,” people listened.

So did her dad. Voight said in a video post on Instagram earlier this year that he was “very disappointed that my daughter, like so many, has no understanding of God’s honor, God’s truths. This is justice for God’s children of the Holy Land.”

“Angie, I think she hasn’t been available to this information because in Hollywood people don’t share this kind of stuff,” the actor told Variety, per the article. “They’re way off. They have no idea what’s going on. It’s a bubble.”

During another meeting, Voight insisted to the Variety reporter that he doesn’t want to fight with her, “but the fact is, I think she has been influenced by the U.N. From the beginning, it’s been awful with human rights. They call it human rights, but it’s just anti-Israel bashing.”

Still, Voight emphasized that he loves his daughter dearly. “When’s she’s having a tough time, I’m having a tough time. When she is down, I’m down.”
