Rihanna proud to have invited him
According to a source close to Rihanna, the singer and her team were thrilled to have Depp in the parade, and according to TMZ, Johnny is the “first man in the history of the Savage X Fenty show to take on the role.”
In general terms, Depp’s participation has received support and good comments, although there are also fans who spoke out against it. One of them was singer Olly Alexander, who on Twitter expressed his disappointment with the brand.

Depp is still active after winning the lawsuit against his ex-wife
In addition to Rihanna’s fashion show, Depp has made several on-screen appearances after winning his defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
In August, he participated in the MTV VMAs with a brief cameo, with his face digitally superimposed on the helmet of a floating mole person. “And you know what, I needed the job,” Depp told the audience during one of his skits.

The appearance came months after a seven-person jury supported him in finding that Amber Heard, Depp’s ex-wife, defamed him in her 2018 op-ed in the Washington Post about domestic violence, though she did not mention him by name.
Judge Penney Azcarate denied Heard’s motion for a mistrial, and after Heard officially appealed the verdict, Depp’s legal team announced it would also appeal the verdict on his countersuit.
