Joe Budden has made great use of his podcast platform with all his unfiltered takes on what’s shaking in the culture and his latest opinion is giving Meek Mill a lot of credit.
In one of the most recent episodes of The Joe Budden Podcast, the former rapper crowned Meek Mill’s “Dreams and Nightmares” opener off his debut album of the same name the best rap intro of all time. The song has been heard in clubs all over the country since the Philly native dropped it in 2012.
“Meek for me has the best rap song of the last decade,” Budden said about the fiery track. “I don’t think it’s blasphemous to say. It can be said. It’s safe to say.”

The song quickly became a breakaway hit and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It was produced by The Beat Bully and became so popular that the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles used it as their anthem throughout their improbable Super Bowl LII championship run. After their win, NBCSports Philadelphia called the song “the greatest Philly sports anthem ever.”
This wasn’t the only claim Joe Budden has made that has people talking. On another episode, the podcast host said that he thinks the New York drill sound has a few more years left before its flame is extinguished.
You drill n-ggas got the shortest of windows,” Budden said. “That shit bout over. Y’all can go keep dancing with Eric Adams if you want. It’s over, buddy, in the next five, six years.”
He continued, “The writing is on the wall, and that’s government-issued writing. That’s not Joe. That’s government-issued writing. Don’t start hitting me, mad at me. I’m just telling you what I’m looking at.”
