JEEZY FINALLY MEETS BARACK OBAMA: ‘IF THIS DOESN’T MOTIVATE YOU NOTHING WILL’

COLLEGE PARK, GA – Jeezy finally rubbed shoulders with former President Barack Obama at a Democratic rally in College Park, Georgia, last week.
Obama was a guest speaker at the Gateway Center rally on Friday (October 28), which was attended by various celebrities and high-profile Democrats. Among them was Jeezy, who shared a video of him shaking Obama’s hand and posing for a photo with his Instagram followers.

“If this doesn’t motivate you nothing will #SNOFALL,” the Atlanta rapper captioned his post.

To make the meet-up even more special, Jeezy closed out the rally with an impromptu performance of “My President” and “Put On.” Snowman’s performance of the former was a fitting choice as the song was originally made as a celebration of Obama’s eventual presidency.

The triumphant track featured a guest verse from Nas and appeared on Jeezy’s The Recession LP in 2008, the same year Obama became the first Black person to be voted into the White House.

Friday’s rally marked Jeezy’s first time meeting Barack Obama in person. The CTE boss was previously invited to a dinner in New York by Obama, but was denied entry by the Secret Service.

“I was supposed to go to a dinner in New York, but when I got there, the Secret Service wouldn’t let me in — allegedly because of my track record and they was saying I was still under investigation,” he told HipHopDX in 2019.

Jeezy admitted in the same interview he “felt a way” about being turned away at the dinner, but that didn’t spoil Obama’s Presidential victory or the impact of “My President” for him.

“When I knew the song was real was the night he won, I hopped in my Lamborghini, I was riding around Atlanta with the doors up playing ‘My President Is Black,’” he recalled. “But I wasn’t the only one doing that; the whole city was doing that! I was like, ‘Oh, this is crazy!’”

Despite missing out on dinner with Obama, Jeezy still received love from the 44th President of the United States when he shouted him out at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in 2012.

“In my first term, I sang Al Green; in my second term, I’m going with Young Jeezy,” Obama joked. “Michelle said, ‘Yeahhh.’ I sing that to her sometimes.”
