Carter power.

Beyonce and Jay-Z’s “Apeshit” video was a smash hit in 2018. The artistic visuals were shot in The Louvre, and highlighted several of the most famous pieces of art on the planet. The Carters blessed the world with new music and Black excellence, reestablishing their dominance in the culture. We already reported that The Carters were credited with being a factor in The Louvre’s rise in attendance. Now, the official website for the historic museum has released the numbers.

“The Musée du Louvre had a record 10.2 million visitors in 2018—an increase of 25% in comparison with 2017,” reads the statement from the museum’s website. “No other museum in the world has ever equaled this figure… Elsewhere in the world, interest in the Louvre was bolstered by the Louvre Abu Dhabi (which recently celebrated its first anniversary), and by Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s ‘Apes**t’ video, with its tribute to some of the museum’s greatest artworks.”

“I’m delighted that the Louvre is so popular,” stated the Louvre’s president-director Jean-Luc Martinez. “Our goal is not so much to attract more visitors as to provide better visiting conditions. The recent changes we have made and are continuing to implement (clearer signage, translation of texts, etc.) have improved the quality of visitor reception.”
