Jamie Foxx is recovering well. The actor seemed to be in high spirits when he was photographed in public for the first time following his mysterious “medical complication” that led to his hospitalization in April.
In new photos and video obtained by TMZ, the “Ray” star was all smiles while cruising along the Chicago River in a large boat on Sunday afternoon, July 9. Further showing that he’s recovering well, could be seen cheerfully waving and even throwing up the peace sign to a neighboring boat that passed him by and cheered at him.
During the exciting appearance, the 55-year-old donned an all-black outfit with aviator shades. He was seemingly joined by at least two other passengers. The news outlet also noted that it looked like some family members were around as well.
The weekend outing marks the first time that Jamie was spotted in public following his hospitalization. The actor’s daughter Corinne Foxx confirmed that her actor father, who had been filming “Back in Action” with Cameron Diaz before the health scare, was hospitalized in Georgia on April 12.
“We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” Corinne wrote at the time. After discharged from the hospital, he was reportedly moved to a top physical rehab center in Chicago in late April, where he has been undergoing intense physiotherapy.
Recently, Jamie’s “They Cloned Tyrone” co-star John Boyega gave an update on Jamie’s condition. Asked if he had spoken to Jamie recently, the British star replied, “Yeah. He’s all good. He’s all good. So we’re just going to wait for him to reappear when he wants to. You know, privacy and all.”
Teyonah Parris, who also stars in the sci-fi mystery film and joined the interview, also weighed in on Jamie’s recovery. Agreeing with John, she urged everyone to give Jamie “space to heal how they need to do.”
