‘Hold firmly the virtues of NPP’ – Freddie Blay tells party members
Constituency officers, delegates and Regional executives of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) have been advised not to rest on their oars or sink the party at their own peril.
Mr Freddie Blay, the National Chairman of the party said, “You need not to sing the ‘Ye hun hweee song’, as owners of the party, let’s tell our own stories for the future of the country and the Party in particular.
The National Chairman was speaking at a forum organised by the Western Regional Organisational Committee of the Party to mark the NPP’s two years in government.
The event, on the theme: “NPP Our Hope for 2020 and “ was spearheaded by Mr. Abdul Ganiyu Mohammed, the Western Regional Organiser of the Party to first of all thank God almighty for bringing the party that far and to solicit divine support for the government in the ensuing years.
The two years in power of the NPP witnessed many policy initiatives such as; the free Senior High School, Planting for food and Jobs, One district, One factory as well as massive injection of capital into the revival of the National Health Insurance Scheme among other policies and programmes aimed at bettering the lives of the citizenry and improving the national economy.
Mr Blay mentioned other measures put in place by the Akufo-Addo led government to improve livelihood and fortunes of all Ghanaians adding, “We have taken pragmatic measures in 2019… everything will work well”.
He said the government was bent on ensuring lots of jobs for Ghanaians and encouraged them not to be selfish by indulging in corrupt practices, which had the tendency to destroy the fortunes of the country.
The national chairman reminded the party officers of the need to support the government, preach about the good policy interventions of the party to all Ghanaians, especially floating voters to enable them to win some for the 2020 elections.
He said the creation of the Western North should not bring any division in their work, but rather stronger collaboration to enhance development.
Mr Charles Bissue, a Presidential Staffer said the 2019 budget was one that inspired lots of hope and brighter future for the country and encouraged them to continually pray for the government to fulfil all dreams.
The government, according to him, was sanitising the mining sector especially small scale with the creation of six mining districts across the western region.
He said so far, some interested Ghanaians had been trained in responsible small scale mining with the hope that about 10,000 people would eventually be skilled in that area to avoid environmental degradation that had characterised illegal small scale mining over the period”.
Mr Joe Ghartey, the Member of Parliament for Essikado Ketan constituency alluded to how they served the party in all diligence and faithfulness and the benefit that had come with it and urged the younger generation to be selfless in following the party as they would be rewarded in the future.
In a related development, the Leadership of the Party led by the Regional Chairman on Friday converged at the Takoradi central mosque to solicit prayers for the party.
The Regional Chief Imam, Sheik Ustaz Ali in the company of the Takoradi Chief Imam Mohammed Awal prayed for mother Ghana, the leadership of the New Patriotic Party for the lord’s direction in governing the state and its prosperity.
In the same vein, the Regional Organisational committee worshipped with the Bethel Methodist Church in Takoradi for the Christian prayers.
In all, the Committee presented a cow and a token as well as an offering to the two religious sects as thanksgiving to God almighty for bringing the party that far.
