Johnny Depp attended the Cannes Film Festival this year. However, instead of his performance in “Jeanne du Barry” that attracted people’s attention, it was his “rotting” teeth.
In photos taken at the Tuesday, May 16 event, the 59-year-old’s teeth looked discolored and riddled with brown spots. After seeing the pictures, some Twitter users couldn’t help but poke fun at the actor.
One person in particular wrote, “Johnny Depp’s teeth are literally ROTTING.” Another tweeted, “Johnny Depp’s new movie, #JeanneDuBarry, debuts with a metacritic score of 51, an F rating.”
The comments didn’t stop there. More people weighed in on the matter by writing, “The score is currently as yellow as his teeth. Congratulations!” Someone else chimed in, “why do i have to see closeup pics of johnny depp’s teeth against my will.” Another argued, “johnny depp just looks like someone grabbed his teeth and painted them black.”
That aside, Johnny appeared in “Jeanne Du Barry” as King of France Louis XV. During a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival, he addressed past comments in 2021 when he claimed he felt “boycotted” by the industry.
“Did I feel boycotted by Hollywood?” he asked. “Well, you’d have to not have a pulse to feel at that point like this was all just a weird joke.”
“Of course, when you’re asked to resign from a film you’re doing because of something that’s merely a bunch of vowels and consonants floating in the air,” he added. “Do I feel boycotted now? No, not at all. But I don’t feel boycotted, because I don’t think about Hollywood. I don’t feel much further need for Hollywood – I don’t know about you.”
Depp, who admitted it had been tough for him to move on as a public figure due to the legal battle, also suggested he was disillusioned with Hollywood as a whole. He explained, “It’s a very strange, funny time when everyone would love to be themselves, but they can’t because they must fall in line with the person in front of them. If you want to follow that line, be my guest. I’ll be on the other side.”
