Eminem’s Daughter Hailie Jade Says She ‘Audibly Sobbed’ at Her Dad’s New Music — and ‘Can’t’ Listen Again

“I definitely cry every time I hear it at all,” Hailie said of the rapper’s emotional new track “Somebody Save Me”

Eminem’s daughter had an emotional reaction to his latest project.

Hailie Jade Scott — whom the rapper, 51, shares with ex-wife Kim Scott — revealed on the Aug. 23 episode of her Just a Little Shady podcast that some of the tracks on her dad’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), brought tears to her eyes.

While discussing the music video for “Somebody Save Me” featuring Jelly Roll, which dropped on Aug. 21, Hailie, 28, told co-host Brittany Ednie, “I watched it in [its] entirety and I don’t think I can do it again.”

“I definitely cry every time I hear it at all,” she continued. “And actually, Brittany put the little commercial snippet on today and I was like, ‘Can you turn that down? Like, are you trying to make me cry?’ ”

“Somebody Save Me,” in which Eminem details his struggles with addiction and apologizes to his children — including Alaina Marie Scott, 31, and Stevie Laine Scott, 22, whom he also shares with ex Kim — features an entire verse dedicated to Hailie.

“Hailie, I’m so sorry / I know I wasn’t there for your first guitar recital,” he raps on the emotional song, in which he appears to reflect on big milestones he might have missed due to his addiction issues. “Didn’t walk you down the aisle / Missed the birth of your first child / Your first podcast, lookin’ down, sweetie / I’m so proud of how you turned out.”

The track, as well as “Temporary” featuring Skylar Grey — which the rapper said he wrote for Hailie, and which features recordings of her as a toddler — evoked an emotional response, Hailie told Ednie.

“I mean, I can’t,” she said. “I audibly sobbed, I think, for both songs, but especially ‘Temporary.’ ”

“But I will say, watching the video back and listening to the songs, I feel like my parents did such a good job growing up,” Hailie continued. “Where I didn’t realize how bad things were, but now, as an adult in hindsight, it’s so scary to think about.”
