The “Moana 2” star admits he ran into some trouble while trying to snag Eras Tour tickets for a friend.
Maui can lasso the sun and fill your sails with wind, but even he can’t snag Eras Tour tickets without a little help from his friend.
He may be a WWE champion and a Hollywood superstar, but titles and accolades didn’t save Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson from running into trouble while seeking tickets to the final stretch of Taylor Swift’s epic Eras Tour. During a chat with Entertainment Tonight, the Moana 2 star revealed that securing those tickets was the first time he’s ever had to “pull strings” in his three decades of fame.
“It’s never happened in my career,” Johnson admitted. “Usually, I don’t have to pull strings. Usually, I’ll just… I just make it happen.”
But as Swifties who have navigated Ticketmaster know all too well, attending an Eras Tour concert isn’t something that just happens. Johnson explained that when his “good friend” reached out to him for help getting tickets to one of Swift’s shows, it took more steps than usual for the actor to get the job done.
“I’m never good at asking for that kind of stuff. I’m good at giving it. Hate asking for stuff. I don’t do it,” Johnson shared. “But in this case, made a little call. Taylor made it happen.”
He added, “I got the picture of the happy ladies who were there. All was well in the world. I appreciate that about Taylor.”
Johnson isn’t the first to lament the impossibility of landing Eras Tour tickets. In July, Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh — who directed such hits as Magic Mike, Erin Brockovich, and Ocean’s Eleven — said that he’d go to one of Swift’s shows if only he could score some tickets.
“I can’t get in,” he said. “But I watched the film.”
Countless other celebrities have been spotted at her concerts since Swift first kicked off the tour in March 2023, but the window to attend a concert is quickly dwindling. Swift has just three shows left, with her final performance set for Dec. 8 in Vancouver.
