The 2024 Copa America is getting closer and the participating teams are almost defined, but first the draw for the groups must take place
Copa America confirms groups for the next edition
With 14 of the 16 teams already known for the tournament, the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) has confirmed the groups for next week’s draw.
The Mexican national team will be one of the four seeded countries, despite rumours that it would not be because of its position in the FIFA Ranking, along with the United States, Argentina and Brazil.
Uruguay, after the last international break, made a good step in the classification and overtook the United States and Mexico in the list, however the two representatives of the CONCACAF remain in Pot 1, while the Uruguayans are in Pot 2.
The Confederation of North, Central American, and Caribbean Football (CONCACAF) will have six participating teams. Alongside the Americans and Mexicans are Panama and Jamaica, while the remaining two will come from the playoffs in March involving Honduras, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica, who will determine the teams that will be CONCACAF 5 and 6.

Each group will be made up of one team from each pot, four in total, which are more or less organised according to the FIFA Ranking.
