Blockbuster transfer news emerged recently, as it looks like Kylian Mbappe has informed PSG that he will not continue at the club beyond the summer of 2024. Of course, that is expected to raise the interest of a number of clubs across Europe, as it is quite clear that the Frenchman is one of the best players in the world right now. One of them is Real Madrid.
Mbappe has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for years now. Yet, it has not materialised. That could change soon though.
Another one of the clubs linked with a move for Mbappe in recent times is Chelsea. The Blues have splashed out since their change in ownership but that has not led to success on the pitch, as they are coming off of their worst campaign of the century.
There is some good news for Real Madrid in that regard. As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea sources play down links with Mbappe.
Chelsea hand Mbappe boost to Real Madrid
Mbappe has always seemed destined to join Real Madrid. Yet, recent events could make things complicated.
With Mbappe not set to extend his contract with PSG, the club are expected to try and find him a new home this summer. A move to Real Madrid would be complicated though.
The first reason is the frosty relationship that Real Madrid and PSG are believed to share at this point of time. The second is the big transfer fee that the club look set to shell out in order to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
They are in need of another world-class striker as well, with Karim Benzema leaving the club this summer. If they do try to bring in Mbappe to play as a central forward, that could solve a lot of issues.
