Charli XCX, Beyoncé, Barbra Streisand and more stars endorse Kamala Harris

Charli XCX and more celebrities have endorsed the Vice President as the Democratic party’s nominee since Joe Biden dropped out of the race on July 21.

“I believe it is in the best interest of my party and my country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” the politician wrote in a statement at the time.

He went on to thank Harris and called her an “extraordinary partner” during his White House tenure.

Minutes later, he shared his “full support and endorsement” for the former prosecutor to be the party’s nominee for the 47th President of the United States.

Barack and Michelle Obama

Barack and Michelle Obama officially endorsed Harris for president on Friday, July 26, in an emotional phone call.

“Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office,” the 44th president told her.

A full transcript of the trio’s call showed Barack citing Harris’ “record of inclusion” as one of the reasons he and his wife are proud to back her as the Democratic nominee.

Charli XCX

British pop star Charli XCX tweeted that “Kamala IS brat” on July 21.

The singer described “brat,” the title of her sixth album, that same month as a “very honest” and “very blunt” person “who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things some times.”

She added that “brat,” which is stylized in a lowercase black font over a neon green background, embodies someone with a “pack of cigs, a Bic lighter and a strappy white top with no bra.”

After her tweet, the @KamalaHQ account — which is the official rapid response page of Harris’ presidential campaign — reacted. The X profile’s background photo now features “kamala hq” written in black over the viral color.

Harris’ stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, even got in on the “brat” fun by reposting Charli XCX’s tweet to her Instagram Story.

Cardi B

On July 21, Cardi B reminded her Instagram followers that she predicted Harris’ run for president.

“STOP PLAYING WIT ME!!!! Check the date.. said this on JUNE 30TH!” the rapper captioned a throwback video. “been told y’all Kamala should’ve been the 2024 candidate. Y’all be trying to play the Bronx education, baby this what I do!!! Been my passion.. don’t let my accent fool y’all.”

However, the Grammy winner tweeted her hesitancy to endorse Harris, writing that she “need[ed] a second” and wished the party had “ushered [in] someone new way before.”

Barbra Streisand

Barbra Streisand shared her endorsement for Harris in a statement to the New York Times.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris ushered this nation out of the [Donald] Trump chaos. I’m so grateful to President Biden and so excited to support Kamala Harris,” the singer wrote.

“She will work to restore women’s reproductive freedom and continue with the accomplishments begun in the Biden-Harris administration.”

Mark Hamill

Mark Hamill used #HamillHeartsHarris to share his support for her via X.

“I want to offer my full support & endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year,” the “Star Wars” actor tweeted, quoting Biden.

“Vote for the candidate who will both honor & further his legacy: @KamalaHarris.”

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande gave a subtle show of support via Instagram Stories.

The singer re-posted Biden’s endorsement of Harris.

In the same slide, she added a voter registration link for her fans to follow.

John Legend

John Legend gushed to his Instagram followers on July 21 that he was “so ready” to vote for Harris.

“She’s ready for this fight and I’m excited to help her in any way I can,” the EGOT winner wrote.

The “All of Me” singer noted that he wanted to “reject Trump’s authoritarian, oppressive Project 2025 and elect Kamala Harris as our President.”

Yvette Nicole Brown

Yvette Nicole Brown tweeted a throwback photo on July 21 of herself smiling at Harris’ side.

“I’m sure it goes without saying but I FULLY stand with (and next to) my Soror, the fabulous @KamalaHarris!” the actress wrote, referencing the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.

The “Drake & Josh” alum gushed that Harris had her “FULL endorsement for President of the United States!”

Jessica Alb

Similarly, Jessica Alba uploaded multiple pictures of herself and Harris.

“I’ve been riding with you for a hot minute,” the “Fantastic Four” star captioned the Instagram slideshow. “excited for you to make history @kamalaharris ❤️. Let’s gooooo 👊🏽!

“Link in bio if you are on board,” she continued, disabling comments on the carousel.

Jamie Lee Curtis

Jamie Lee Curtis praised the “trusted,” “tested” and “tough” politician via Instagram on July 23.

In a separate post, the “Freaky Friday” star wrote, “She is a fierce advocate for women’s rights and people of color and her message is one of HOPE and UNITY for America at her time of great national divide.”

She also thanked Biden for his “leadership, grace under pressure, strength and resilience.”

Beyoncé

While Beyoncé has not made a statement regarding the possible candidacy, her team granted permission for Harris to use her song “Freedom.”

Harris walked out to the hit while making her first official visit to her campaign headquarters on July 22.

Beyoncé’s response to Harris’ request was prompt as they contacted her representatives earlier that same day, CNN reported.

Octavia Spencer

Octavia Spencer posted a photo of Biden and Harris to Instagram on July 21.

“The time from handwringing and teeth gnashing is over!” she wrote. “We must save ourselves! DEMOCRATS…ASSEMBLE!”

The actress used the hashtags “#Harris2024,” “#SayItWithYorFullChest” and “#ImWithHer.”

Spike Lee

Spike Lee shared a brief message of support for Harris via Instagram.

“once again a sista comes to da rescue,” the director wrote.

He also posted a New York Times article about her “15-week dash,” captioned with multiple thumbs up, clapping and flexed muscle emojis.

George Clooney

One week after George Clooney called for Biden to step down from the race in a New York Times op-ed, he endorsed Harris.

“President Biden has shown what true leadership is. He’s saving democracy once again,” the Oscar winner told CNN in a July 23 statement.

“We’re all so excited to do whatever we can to support Vice President Harris in her historic quest.”
