Bobrisky’s latest movie “Bobrisky in Love” could be hitting the screens anytime soon – or maybe not – as the National Film and Video Censors Board is reportedly reviewing the content.
Reports about Bobrisky – real name Idris Okunneye – shooting a movie alongside some A-list actors in the industry has infuriated cinephiles, with several others predicting poor sales of the movie when it is released.
Popular actor Charles Awurum spoke out against Nollywood producers for casting Bobrisky in their movies and accused them of doing outrageous things in the industry to make money.
But it appears all that is not forestalling the film from being released as a top official of the NFVCB has disclosed that three separate panels have been set up at the zonal levels to analyse and classify the movie.
The source is however optimistic that it could be banned on the basis that it promotes homosexuality, and any work of arts which contravenes the laws of Nigeria cannot be endorsed by the government.
The insider, per Punch, says: “We have set up three different panels to view the movie which was given to us by the producers for classification and review.
“For the purpose of fairness and objectivity, we will not give specific details since evaluation is still ongoing but note that any movie that promotes homosexuality in contravention of our laws cannot be endorsed.
“Latest by next week we will deliver a verdict on the movie. If the movie is banned, it would be communicated to the producers and our enforcement team would mop up all copies of the film on the market and defaulters would be apprehended and fined appropriately.”
