Big Sean has offered some words of encouragement to his fans on social media during Mental Health Awareness month.
On Thursday (May 18), Sean Don took to Twitter to share a message of hope and inspiration to anyone who may need it during such trying times in this world.
“To everybody stressed the fuck out or overwhelmed cause y’all busy… just remember, It’s much more stressful when things AREN’T happening versus stress bc they are,” Big Sean said. “Ok, back to work… but take care of you too [palms emoji][stars emoji].”
A number of Big Sean’s fans were extremely receptive of his uplifting message, with some even detailing how his tweet helped them in the heat of their mental health battle.
One user tweeted: “The way I’ve been struggling exactly with that and your words found me in perfect timing, thank you for that. God Bless you Sean [praying hands emoji][blue heart emoji] Take care of yourself, lots of love to you and your loved ones.”
Another user added: “i was on the verge of a panic attack all day and this is exactly what i needed to hear. i’ve always related to u and what u have to say.”
Big Sean has never been shy about the ups and downs of his battle with mental health. In 2021, the Grammy Award-winning rapper got brutally honest about his mental health and admitted he’d contemplated suicide on numerous occasions — sometimes with a gun in his hand.
“I for sure contemplated suicide a lot of times, having guns in my hand, feeling it for real … planning it out to the point where I said, ‘Hey, if I do kill myself, at least my family will get this amount of money. I did this already,’” he said in an interview with Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. “Because I was just stressed out and not happy. I realized that OK, I need to stop everything I’m doing and figure this out or I’m going to self-destruct.
“I took the time off, canceled everything I was doing, sought therapy, connected with God more, spiritually grounded myself, and put myself first as a priority for the first time ever.”
