Barbra Streisand Asks Melissa McCarthy ‘Did You Take Ozempic?’ in Instagram Comment
Back in 2016, the two stars performed a duet together for the singer’s ‘Encore’ album
Barbra Streisand asked Melissa McCarthy in the comment section of McCarthy’s latest Instagram post if she has used a weight-loss drug.
On Monday, April 29, McCarthy, 53, shared a photo of herself alongside director Adam Shankman as they attended the Center Theatre Group’s CTG The Gala event at the Ahmanson Theatre the day prior in Los Angeles.
“Pastels only to honor the incredible @matthewbourne13 at the @ctgla gala last night with this fella @adamshankman!!” she wrote in the caption. “Thiiiiis much closer to my dream of dancing on stage.”
In the comment section, Streisand, 82, wrote: “Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?” The remark, which has since been deleted, was captured by the Comments By Celebs Instagram account.
Reps for Streisand and McCarthy did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment.
Also in the comment section, McCarthy got shoutouts from Glenn Close, who wrote “GORGEOUS!!!” and Octavia Spencer, who said “These lewks are yummy.” Elizabeth Banks commented “Stunners!!” and Mariska Hargitay added, “Gorgeous.”
Back in 2016, McCarthy performed a duet of “Anything You Can Do” with Streisand as part of the singer’s Encore album.
McCarthy told Entertainment Weekly last year that Streisand is “really funny” and recalled what surprised her about the star when they first met.
“I think when she opened the door she had leggings on and lunch meat in her hand. And I was like, none of this is what I expected,” recalled McCarthy.
The Little Mermaid actress admitted she was “super nervous” to meet Streisand at first, but, “She’s so who she is.”
“And also,” added McCarthy, “when someone who you think you should be curtseying to keeps eating lunch meat, it really kind of levels the playing field. It was really charming. I was like, ‘You’re really pounding lunch meat.’ She’s like, ‘Yeah.’ “
