Trouble behind the scenes with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is becoming more common, and lately, actress Amber Heard has been at the forefront. A few months ago, speculations started to spread that Emilia Clarke, who’s the favorite to play the role of Mera in the next sequel, was taking the star’s position.
Those assertions were made by Syl Abdul, a well-known and frequently trustworthy YouTube personality. Abdul is now providing proof to back up his claims after seeing that Amber Heard appears to be gone from Aquaman 2 reshoots.
Abdul claims that everyone but Amber Heard is back on the Aquaman 2 set for new filming. He described the new Mera sequences, but he was unable to identify the actress who was playing the role during the most recent round of filming. In addition, he thinks Warner Bros. Discovery is hiding the identity of the aforementioned actress.
Usually, statements like the ones Abdul frequently makes should be treated with skepticism, but in the past, the YouTube personality has been spot-on with his scoops. For instance, his tip that Ben Affleck would return as Batman in the Aquaman sequel from back in July proved to be entirely true.
The reasons behind the alleged removal of Amber Heard
Amber Heard’s ex-husband Johnny Depp sued her for $50 million in defamation over an op-ed that appeared in The Washington Post in December 2018.
Heard claimed that her position in Aquaman 2 had been severely diminished before the jury’s June finding that the actress had in fact slandered the Pirates of the Caribbean actor. Since then, there have been various rumors that the actresses’ part has been completely cut, although none of them have been proven.
Amber Heard was already establishing a reputation for herself before her prior engagement with Johnny Depp and the ongoing courtroom drama that followed propelled her even farther into the spotlight.
She had a big role in Drive Angry and The Stepfather in addition to playing Mera in DC’s superhero film Aquaman. It remains to be seen if she shows up in Aquaman 2 or if her role is completely eliminated.
