Amber Heard has been quite open about her emotions on the decision and more after the conclusion of her defamation battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp. In her initial statement, the actress expressed “disappointment” with the jury’s judgment, which found her guilty of three counts of defamation.

Heard recently gave her first sit-down interview since the case finished, and she discussed a variety of topics. One item that was discussed was a piece of concealed evidence that the actress believes would have impacted the outcome of the trial.

There were several important pieces of evidence in the defamation lawsuit, including audio tapes, pictures, and more. These were eventually decisive in the case, but Amber Heard argues that a binder should have been investigated as well. During their discussion, she told Today’s Savannah Guthrie that it supposedly contained information from her doctor that would have harmed Johnny Depp’s case:

During the Dateline interview, it was revealed that the notes contained charges of abuse made by the actress against her ex-husband. Among these were allegations that Johnny Depp “struck her” and “threw her to the floor” in January 2012, and that he mistreated her again months later. During the trial, Depp stated that he had “never struck any lady.”

Aside from the binder, Amber Heard told Savannah Guthrie how “fair” she thought the trial was. The actress believes her character was misrepresented during the hearings, owing to the “vitriol” on social media. She also said that the jurors felt greater sympathy for her ex since he is “a beloved persona and people feel they know him.”

Johnny Depp’s lawyers have already spoken out about why the actress did not connect with the jurors. According to one of the attorneys, Ben Chew, it all came down to “accountability,” since he believes Depp “owned his faults.” Chew went on to say that those considering the matter may have “thought that she didn’t take accountability for anything.”

A juror in the case has also gone up, claiming that he and his colleagues did not believe the starlet’s “crocodile tears,” and that Depp came off as “more credible.” However, he stated that “they were both abusive to each other.”

Amber Heard is currently required to pay her former $15 million in compensatory and punitive damages. Heard’s lawyer has stated that she is unable to pay the millions of dollars, although some have taken note of her recent use of a private plane.

When it comes to the binder, we’ll never know for sure if it would’ve impacted the outcome of the case. What is clear right now is that the consequences of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s trial could last for quite some time.
