50 Cent has shared his thoughts on the lofty praise he’s received from 48 Laws of Power author Robert Greene after the writer praised the rapper’s “energy.”
Greene spoke about 50 in an interview with The Game Changing Attorney podcast, and said the G-Unit leader’s “realistic outlook” on life has allowed him to become a superstar without succumbing to the pitfalls of fame or wealth.
“When it comes to 50, there is something about him that’s different,” Greene said. “There is an energy and I think the energy is his realistic outlook. He’s not someone who wants to get high all the time and just live in this fantasy world and imagine having money.
“He’s extremely realistic when he looks at the world, and I think actually he got that from his mother, to be honest with you. His father was a drug dealer, a hustler, who was killed when he was I believe nine years old. She had that kind of hardcore mentality.”
He continued: “But then he arrived at a key moment in his life after he got shot in the head and he had alreadymade a record that he put together called Power of the Dollar. I think maybe his best record of all — an incredible record. And the second he got shot they canceled the album; it’s never been put out since.
“And that was the moment where most people would be crushed … and at that turning point, he became extremely angry and energized and he decided he was gonna prove them wrong. And what he did was he went on this insane mixtape campaign where he went directly to the people.”
Greene concluded that 50 Cent’s ability to bounce back from being shot and motivate himself to chase his dreams is what makes him such a unique human being. The Power mogul agreed with Greene’s assertion while reacting to his praiseworthy comments on Instagram.
“Robert Green is no joke. 48 Laws of POWER,” he wrote in his caption. “Im sharp as a blade out here, watch me you’ll see.”
50 Cent and Robert Greene and have been longtime friends dating all the way back to 2009 when 50 teamed up with the author to release a spinoff book called The 50th Law.
The Queens, New York native announced in 2021 that a Netflix adaptation was in the works with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris.
Back in 2014, 50 noted in an interview with SiriusXM that Greene actually gave him some of the best advice of his career while they were working together on the aforementioned book.
“He said to me, ‘Everyone is not gonna be prepared to take the time to actually utilize the information that’s given to them,’” he recalled. “If you pay attention and you actually keep whatever information is coming in front of you, then you choose what’s valuable.
“But the things that you do that are valuable that make it your business to keep it, you actually have to write it down or say it to yourself … put it in my phone and hold onto it until it becomes a part of you in the way you actually would express yourself.”
In other news, 50 Cent recently revealed plans for a massive international tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’.
Dubbed the Final Lap Tour, the trek kicks off on July 21 in Salt Lake City, Utah and journeys across North America until September 17, making stops in cities such as Toronto, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit and 50’s hometown of New York City.
