The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has announced the promotion of 2,155 officers with effect from January 1, 2019.
A statement issued by the Police Service to congratulate the officers said the promoted cops include eight Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), who have been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police, one Superintendent of Police promoted to Chief Superintendent of Police and seven Deputy Superintendents of Police promoted to the rank of Superintendents.
Additionally, the statement announced that 114 Assistant Superintendents of Police have been promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendents of Police, with 243 promoted to the rank of Chief Inspectors.
A total of 719 Sergeants, according to the statement, have been promoted to the rank of Inspectors and 1,020 Corporals have equally been promoted to the rank of Sergeants, while 34 Lance Corporals have been promoted to the rank of Corporals and nine Constables have been promoted to the rank of Lance Corporals.
“These promotions are administrative and in line with the officers satisfying provisions in regulations 37 of the Police Service Regulations 2012 (C.I. 76),” according to the statement signed by Director of Public Affairs of the Police Service, Shiella Kessie Abayie-Buckman.
Some of the officers had not been promoted over the years due to inexplicable reasons.
